In Article V of the United States Constitution, the Framers gave THE PEOPLE an avenue (through the individual states) to amend the founding document. George Mason argued that THE PEOPLE must have this direct method to correct “government gone wrong” in the event that what they had created in 1787 would become tyrannical. Well, the federal government – both elected and non-elected – has gone tyrannical. Thus, it is up to THE PEOPLE to fix it.

The mission of Art5Now is to fuse the various “competing” efforts to trigger an Article V States’ Convention to proffer amendments to the Constitution. Each of these efforts has one, common goal: end the anti-Liberty, rogue federal government’s tyrannical reign over THE PEOPLE and put this Republic back on its Constitutional foundation.

We will meet, we will argue and we will proffer Amendments that will be designed to terminate an out of control federal leviathan. Let’s do this!

FEDERALIST 85:

By the fifth article of the plan, the Congress will be obliged “on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the States…to call a convention for proposing amendments…” The words of this article are peremptory. The Congress “shall call a convention.” Nothing in this particular is left to the discretion of that body. And of consequence, all the declamation about the disinclination to a change vanishes in air…We may safely rely on the disposition of the State legislatures to erect barriers against the encroachments of the national authority.
